The Offer System

The offer system allows users to send each other offers for the textbooks they wish to purchase. When you make an offer to the seller for a book, a message is sent through our messaging system to the seller and notifies him via email about your offer. The seller can then accept your offer (if he agrees with the price & payment method) and continue to sell his book to you.

There are three different types of payment methods:

Meet up on Campus – Pay with Cash

This option will notify the seller that you would like to meet up, and pay him in cash. Just be sure to meet up on campus or in a public place. For more detailed tips on how to do this safely read our guide to helpful exchanges on campus located here.

Meet up on Campus – Pay with a Credit Card

This option will notify the seller that you would like to meet up, and pay him with a credit card. If he accepts your offer, you will be prompted to a secure checkout where you can pay with credit card. Upon payment, you will be given a transaction PIN.

A transaction PIN is given to insure that your funds are not released to the seller until you meet up on campus and exchange your PIN for the book. The seller will also be given a partial portion of your PIN to insure that he is not receiving the wrong PIN from you.

For detailed tips on how to do this safely, please read our guide located here.

Have book shipped to you – Pay with a Credit Card

Most textbooks are usually used in more than one university nationwide; So why not have the ability for students to ship them to one another?

This option will notify the seller that you want to pay him with a credit card and have the booked shipped to you. If he accepts your offer, you will be prompted to enter your shipping address, and pay with credit card. To secure your payment, the money will not be released to the seller until he ships your book and uploads the tracking number into the “Manage Books” section of his account.

Funds will be released 3 – 5 business days after the book has been successfully delivered. We recommend using USPS Media mail, as this is usually the cheapest way to ship a book. Buyers will be prompted to pay an additional $5 to cover shipping costs. As of now, PostYourBook will send the seller a check when his funds become available, however you will soon have the option of transferring your money to your Paypal or bank account.
